On the 27th of December, BRHA had a meeting with several organizations connected to the UN. During the meeting they spoke about the plans that had been made for the year 2018 and what obstructions they have faced with several projects during that year and how to counter the obstructions during 2019 and the plans for 2019.
On the 26th of December, gifts were distributed among several sick children at Hivi hospital, the gifts consisted of clothing and other necessities. The distribution was for the purpose of supporting the sick children at the hospital.
Winter clothing was distributed among a total of 3,388 IDP children (1 year old up to 14 years old) at Bersivy 2 Camp and Esyan Camp on the 19th and 23rd of December, 2018. This was made possible by UNICEF, in cooperation with BRHA (the managements of the camps) (3,300 children at Bersivy 2 Camp). Akorn made the distribution among 88 children possible on the 19th of December at Esyan Camp.
Under the supervision of Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, a meeting was held with the camp managers on the circumstances of the IDPs and refugees and how to prepare for 2019. The meeting took place on the 23nd of December, 2018.
In cooperation with BRHA and Qandil, the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) had organized a course for the staff of BRHA. The course that took about a month and a half was for the purpose of improving the English language of the staff members and to make them able to write reports and e-mails. The course came to an end on the 20th of December, 2018.
On the 17th of December, the head of UNFPA Duhok received a certificate of appreciation, for the establishment of projects and their support of the IDPs and refugees, from Mr Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs.
The Italian consul-general to the Kurdish region and a delegation consisting of members of AISPO visited Domiz 1 Camp on the 16th of December, 2018. They visited the health center of the camp and the families inside the camp. The purpose of the visit was to observe the circumstances of the refugees from close by and to know what they and the health center needs.
On the 15th of December, under the supervision of Mr. Ferhad Amien, the governor of Duhok, 2 projects of creating job opportunities for the youth (about 260 individuals). The projects were supported by the German organization GIZ. The participants participated in several workshops (for about 2 months) with the purpose of creating job opportunities for them.
