On the 9th of December, financial aid was distributed among the poor IDPs and students at the camps by Lalish Center, in cooperation with the managers of the IDP camps. Lalish Center has distributed about 15,000,000 IQD among 300 poor IDP families and students according to the center’s head, Sheikh Shamo.
The governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs visited Khanky Camp to observe the circumstances of the IDPs on the 10th of December, 2018.
On the 10th of December, the minister of Humanitarian affairs of Poland and a delegation from Poland visited Khanky Camp and were welcomed by the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed. They spoke about the circumstances of the IDPs and refugees in the province of Duhok and the aid and assistance the governorate provides them with. After that the delegation visited several homes at the camp to observe their circumstances from close by.
On the 6th of December, BRHA and UNHCR had organized a workshop consisting of several seminars (held by members of BRHA and members of UNHCR) for the managers of the IDP and refugee camps in the province of Duhok. The workshop was on how to deal with the media that enter the camps and the rules that have to be followed by the parties during their (media) visits to the camps. The privacy of the IDPs and refugees need to be respected and there are for example specific rules if we look at the individuals that were held captive by Daesh (ISIS) at some point.
On the 5th of December, the American consul general to the Kurdish region visited Domiz 2 Camp in order to be able to observe the circumstances of the refugees of the camp from close by. He made clear that they will be continuing their support of the Kurdish region and the IDPs and refugees in the region. After that they visited several refugee homes and the health center at the camp.
On the 4th of December, Mr. Ismail Mohammed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, visited Mamilyan Camp and Aqra Castle to observe the circumstances of the IDPs from close by.
On the 4th of December, Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, and Mr. Serdar Sheikh, the mayor of Shekhan, visited Shekhan Camp to check on the finished project of maintaining and improving the basis of 1,004 tents at the camp. The project was made possible by UNHCR, BCF, ACTED, GIZ and GRC.
On the 2nd of December, 3 courses came to an end at Esyan Camp. In cooperation with the management of Esyan Camp (BRHA), Seywan center had organized these courses for 35 female IDPs at the camp. The courses that took about a month, consisted of: handicraft, sewing and drawing. The purpose of the courses was to support the females at the camp and improve their skills in the different areas.
