Under the auspices of Mr. Ferhad Amin, the governor of Duhok, BRHA organized a workshop (in cooperation with GOAL) on Developing livelihood in Duhok on the 30th of August, 2018.
The agenda was as follows: Speech by Contractor Unions, Speech by GIZ as Development Partner, Speech by commercial and Industrial Room, Identification of GAPS and Challenges for the selected sectors, presentation of GAPS and Challenges, Identification of Scope and Opportunities, Action Plan Development – Sector Wise, Presentation on Scope and Opportunities and Action Plan – Sector wise.
One of the main purposes of the workshop was to speak about job opportunities at different sectors (like education, health, tourism etc.) and improving the opportunities at several sectors for the IDPs, refugees and locals.
UNAMI paid Khanky Camp a visit on the 29th of August, 2018. The purpose of their visit was to observe the circumstances of the IDPs from close by.
On the 28th of August, a group of American volunteers has come to the province of Duhok for a period of time, to give IDP girls psychological support through sports and teaching them the art of self-defence. At Esyan Camp they started the project for about 450 girls, in cooperation with the management of the Camp.
A meeting with GIZ was held at the office of BRHA on the 28th of August, 2018. The two parties spoke about the different sectors that concern the IDPs and refugees and that more emphasis should be put on the sectors: Health, Education, WASH and creating job opportunities. The purpose of the meeting was to to improve the circumstances of the IDPs, refugees and locals.
With the purpose of supporting the women in the Duhok governorate , a bicycle race was organized for 100 girls (IDPs, refugees and locals) in Duhok on the 28th of August, 2018. The race was organized by IOM, BRHA and the directorate of Culture in Duhok.
On the 22nd of August, the Iraqi red crescent and the Turkish red crescent distributed aid among 159 IDP families at Germawa Camp (in cooperation with BRHA). This was done with the ‘Ied festival (‘Ied ul-Adhaa) in mind. The poor families at the camp received meat, as the tradition during ‘Ied ul-Adhaa is to also distribute meat among the poor.
Because of the ‘Ied festival (‘Ied ul-Adhaa), the children at Domiz 2 Camp received clothing on the 20th of August, 2018. About 300 sets of clothing were distributed among the children (2-14 yrs of age) at the camp. This was made possible by a charitable person, in cooperation with BRHA.
About 103 IDPs and refugees that participated in the English language course and the Computer science course, received certificates on the 16th of August, 2018. The courses had been organized by WFP, in cooperation with BRHA.
