On the 28th of June, several courses for improving the skills of IDPs came to an end. The courses consisted of topics on: sports, languages, media, coexistence and some other topics. Children up to the age of 18 participated in the courses, which were given at Shekhan Camp, Esyan Camp, Mamrashan Camp and Dawidiya Camp.
With the purpose of creating job opportunities for IDPs, refugees and the local people in Zakho, several courses for improving skills came to an end on the 27th of June, 2018. About 155 young adults participated in the courses that took about a year. Among those responsible for making these courses possible were, ACF and BRHA.
The governor’s assistant and the directorate of migration and displacement had a meeting on providing the IDPs and refugees with the summer necessities. This happened on the 26th of June, 2018.
On the 25th of June, a carpet factory was opened at Khanky in an official ceremony after the project had come to an end. The factory was made possible with the financial support of the German government, the implementation of IOM and support of BRHA. The cost of the project was $500,000 and the intention is, to give the IDPs and local people of Khanky a job at the factory.
The management of Germawa Camp distributed food items and other necessities (aircoolers) for the summer among the IDPs at the camp on the 21st of June, 2018. This was made possible by the directorate of Migration and displacement, in cooperation with the management of the camp. About 160 families benefited from the distribution.
At Dawidiya Camp an English course that was organized for the youth at the camp, came to an end on the 21st of June, 2018. The course, that was organized by VOP (in cooperation with the management of the camp) took 20 days and about 60 individuals participated in the course. At the end of the course, the participants received certificates .
