In cooperation with GRC, the management of Gawelan Camp and the Iraqi Red Crescent organized a workshop on how to prevent fires from happening and how to protect oneself from fires (the refugees learned how to use the fire extinguisher). The workshop took place on the 23rd of April.
In cooperation with UNHCR, BRHA started the yearly registration of the refugees from Rojava (Syria) that live outside the camps on the 22nd of April, 2018. This way they’ll be able to know how many families have returned to their homes and how many families have come.
A German delegation, including the German consul, visited Kabarto 2 Camp and Domiz 1 Camp on the 23rd of April, 2018. During the visit of this delegation, several projects (like establishing a park and a playground, a project concerning the water infrastructure and a community services center (which was made possible by GIZ)), were started at the camps.
On the 18th of April, the Kuwaiti consul distributed several items among 200 IDP families at Kehete. This happened in cooperation with the Duhok governorate and the mayoralty of Shekhan.
A cleaning day was organized at all IDP and refugee camps on the 16th of April, 2018. This day was organized for the purpose of keeping the camps clean.
On the 15th of April, IOM and BRHA organized a workshop on Community Driven Inclusion of IDPs & Host Communities in Duhok and Ninewa governorates.
On the 21st of April, the park that had been established by UNHCR, GIZ, RWANGA and HARIKAR, was opened in an official ceremony. This all was made possible in cooperation with BRHA. Of those who were present at the ceremony were the director of the municipality of Zawite and the executive director of BRHA, Mr. Idrees Nabi Saalih. During the ceremony a photo exhibition took place (showing pictures of the place where the park has been established of how it was before and after the establishment of the park).
