On the 29th of November, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, met with two representatives of the Turkish and Iraqi Red Crescent. The governor’s assistant spoke about the circumstances of the IDPs and refugees in Duhok in general and made clear that a great burden rests on the province of Duhok and its population. After the start of the operation of Mosul, the region and especially the province of Duhok have seen an influx of IDPs coming from Mosul. They have made the necessary preparations to aid and assist the IDPs and the governor’s assistant made clear that more support is needed and requested this from the representatives of the Red Crescent (for the governmental agencies, especially the health sector). The representatives promised to give some support to the camps of the IDPs from Mosul, like for example 250m tents and other necessities.
Because of the need for winter items at Germawa camp, in cooperation with Qandil and with their financial support, the management of Germawa camp distributed 600 blankets, 300 kerosene heaters and 300 jerrycans (for kerosene) among the IDP families at the camp. Moreover, 121 tents were replaced for new ones at the camp and BRHA distributed 264 plastic shelter sheets among the IDP families of the camp.
In cooperation with the management of Bersivy 1 camp, the organization Malteser opened a playground at the camp.
The playground has been built with the financial support of Malteser.
At Bajid Kandala camp, the organization Qandil distributed kerosene among the IDP families.
It’s worth mentioning, that each family has received 200 liters of kerosene.
In cooperation with the German organization GIZ and with their financial support, the board of relief and humanitarian affairs (BRHA) of the dohuk governorate is building a school consisting of 18 classrooms at Bajid Kandala 1 camp.
In cooperation with UNHCR, the managements of the IDP camps Bajid Kandala 1 and 2 picked out the old and damaged tents and the aforementioned organization was able to replace 550 tents with new ones.
In cooperation with the management of Esyan camp, the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) distributed 3,000,000 IQD among 23 widowers living at the camp.
Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, and the delegation with him visited the district of Zilkan, to point out the locations of the new camps that will be built for the IDPs from Mosul. The plan is to build 7 camps in the province of Duhok for the IDPs coming from Mosul.
Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs; Mr. Uthman Yunes, also an assistant of the governor and Serdar Sheikh Yahya, the mayor of Shekhan and others visited the camps Nergzli 1 and 2, to check on the progress of the establishment of the camps, that are being built for the IDPs that are coming from the district of Mosul. Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed showed his appreciation towards the workers and underwrote the importance of finishing the camps in time.
