On the 8th of January, 2 courses came to an end in an official ceremony at Mamrashan Camp. In cooperation with the management of the camp (BRHA), BCF and IGFM had given 2 courses to 150 women at the camp (among them, the women the were freed from Daesh (ISIS) captivity). The courses consisted of “sewing” and “removing illiteracy” and took more than 2 months.
The management of Mamrashan Camp had organized a football tournament in which 32 teams participated. The tournament came to an end on the 26th of November, 2018.
Under the supervision of Mr. Ferhad Amin, the governor of Duhok,and in the presence of the head of the German SEZ, a representative of the German Caritas and Nelly Erdman, the manager of the project, the finished solar power project was presented in an official ceremony on the 10th of October, 2018. The project was made possible by the aforementioned parties and costed around €600,000. About 375 KW will be made available to 3,000 families at Mamrashan Camp.
The German consul-general to Kurdistan visited Mamrashan Camp with a delegation on the 24th of September, 2018. The visit was for the purpose of observing the circumstances of the IDPs and refugees and the projects that have been established at the IDP and refugee Camps by the German government (by way of several organizations).
On the 28th of June, several courses for improving the skills of IDPs came to an end. The courses consisted of topics on: sports, languages, media, coexistence and some other topics. Children up to the age of 18 participated in the courses, which were given at Shekhan Camp, Esyan Camp, Mamrashan Camp and Dawidiya Camp.
On the 20th of May, the playground that was established by CARITAS Essen at Mamrashan Camp in cooperation with BRHA, was opened. Of those who were present during the opening ceremony were Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs and Mr. Idrees Nabi Saalih, the executive director of BRHA.
In cooperation with the management of Mamrashan Camp, VOP had organized several courses for the children at the Mamrashan Camp. The courses consisted of: handicraft, drawing pictures and theater. These courses came to an end on the 8th of April, 2018 and the fruits of their labor were presented.
In cooperation with BRHA, Caritas started building 20 stores for the poor IDPs at Shekhan Camp and Mamrashan Camp on the 28th March, 2018. A draw was organized among the IDPs at the camp in order to decide which families will run the stores in order to be able to make a living.
In cooperation with UNICEF and the management of Mamrashan Camp, BCF distributed clothing among the children (up to 14yrs of age) at the camp on the 11th of February, 2018
