In cooperation with the management of Germawa Camp, WAR CHILD organized a marathon for the youth at the camp on the 19th of March, 2018. About 170 individuals participated in the race. At the end of the marathon, the winners of the race were awarded gifts.
In order to observe the circumstances of the IDPs from close by, especially those from Mosul, and to be able to support them more efficiently, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed and the executive director of BRHA, Mr. Idrees Nabi Saalih, visited Germawa Camp on the 9th of January, 2018.
The courses have been made possible by LWF and ZERIN, in cooperation with the management of the camp, and started on the 14th of November, 2017. Among the courses that are being held are, electrical maintenance and repair, mobile phone repair and other courses. About 50 IDPs are participating in these courses, that will help them find a job in the corresponding field.
At Germawa Camp a cleaning day was organized on the 10th of October, 2017.The camp’s management employees and the IDPs at the camp participated in the cleaning of the camp.
In cooperation with the management of Germawa Camp, the Turkish Red Crescent and BCF distributed prepared food among 935 families at the camp on the 2nd of September, 2017. Of those who were present was mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs.
A workshop was organized by UNICEF for the children at Germawa Camp on the 14th of June, 2017. The workshop was on how to protect oneself from diseases.
The IDPs from Mosul are continuing to go back to their homes in Mosul. On the 14th of June, 34 IDP Arab families (170 individuals) left Germawa Camp to return to their homes.
In order to be able to provide more assistance to the IDPs, BRHA visited Germawa Camp on the 24th of May, 2017. Of those who were present were, Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, Mr. Idrees Nabi Salih and Ms. Laylan Mohamed Salih.
The IDPs from Mosul at Germawa Camp are starting to return to their homes in Mosul. About 28 Arab and Kurd families (104 individuals) at Germawa Camp returned to Mosul on the 24th of May, 2017.
