On the 28th of August, 2017, BRHA distributed several items (mattresses, heaters, blankets, air conditioners, fans, clothing and large water and kerosene containers) among 70 refugee families at Domiz 1 Camp. Among those who were present were Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, Mr. Idrees Nabi Saalih, the executive director of BRHA and the mayor of Semel.
Under the supervision of BRHA and with their cooperation, the management of Domiz 1 Camp had finished several projects at the camp. The projects consisted of: paving roads inside the camp (which took about 4 months) and the maintenance of the power network at the camp (has been completed for about 60%).
In the presence of Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs; Mr. Hussein Cilki, the mayor of Semel; Mr. Idrees Nabi Saalih, the executive director of BRHA and Ms. Laylan Mohamed Saalih, the program manager of BRHA, in an official ceremony two new managers were allocated to Khanky Camp (Mr. Ali Kacal) and Domiz 1 Camp (Mr. Serdar Yunes) on the 31st of May, 2017.

On the 7th of March, in the presence of Ms. Laylan Mohamed Saalih, program manager at BRHA, and the representatives of UNHCR and IOM, Zinda Sweets started their activities again at Domiz Camp. This was made possible by the management of Domiz Camp (BRHA) and IOM. IOM provided them with whatever was needed to be able to start again, after having stopped their activities due to insufficient support.
On the 3rd of March, Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs (BRHA); Mr. Roderich Kiesewetter, member of the German parliament; the delegation that came with him; Mr. Mohamed Ali Taha, member of the Kurdish parliament and Dr. Nizar Ismet, director of the general directorate of health, visited Sharya Camp and Domiz Camp. The governor’s assistant spoke about the circumstances of the IDPs and refugees in general, the fact that there are more than 700,000 IDPs and refugees and 27 camps in the province of Duhok and other subjects. After that, the governor’s assistant and the delegation visited the people inside both camps.
