In order to support the refugees from Syria (western part of Kurdistan) in the province of Duhok, a project has started of building 150 houses and the maintenance of 1,450 houses at Domiz 1 Camp and Domiz 2 Camp. The project will be done by UNHCR, under the supervision of BRHA. This project was started on the 28th of December, 2017 and will take about 5 months to be completed.
In order to get to know the circumstances of the refugees and what their needs are, the representative of the Consul General of the United States of America visited Domiz 1 Camp on the 3rd of December, 2017. He visited the camp together with the head of UNHCR in Duhok,
With the purpose of creating job opportunities for the refugees at Domiz 1 Camp, several courses were given at the camp. The courses were made available by NUZIN, in cooperation with the management of the Camp, and consisted of: sewing, first aid and other courses. These courses came to an end on the 23rd of November, 2017. The participants received certificates after having successfully completed the courses.
With the purpose of aiding the refugees of Domiz 1 Camp before the winter arrives, in cooperation with the management of Domiz 1 Camp and the support of UNHCR, QANDIL donated 468,000 IQD to each family at the camp for the winter. The distribution took place on the 20th of November, 2017.
Under the supervision of the management of Domiz 1 Camp a charitable person distributed funds among 7 refugee families of martyrs. Each family received $2,000 on the 15th of November, 2017.
Under the supervision of BRHA and in cooperation with NRC, 120 refugee families without homes received the necessities for building houses at Domiz 1 Camp. This happened in an official way on the 12th of October, 2017.
