On the 21st of October, the distribution of food an cleaning items started. A representative of the Iraqi Ministery of Migration and Displacement stated that more than 62,000 cardboard boxes containing food items and cleaning items will be distributed among all IDP camps in the province of Duhok. The manager of Chamishko Camp, Mr. Mamon Yahya stated that there are 5,013 families at Chamishko Camp and that each family will receive 2 boxes of food items and 2 boxes of cleaning items.
A team of Chinese and Korean dentists treated the the IDPs at Chamishko Camp with the purpose of improving their health. The campaign at Chamishko Camp came to an end on the 18th of October, 2018. In three days they had treated about 400 individuals. They are planning to also visit several other camps to continue the treatment of IDPs.
In cooperation with HIVI, the management of Chamishko Camp organized a campaign at the camp to make the IDPs aware of the dangers of fire and fire accidents. The campaign will take about 20 days during which the residents of the camp will be visited and warned about the dangers of fire. During 2018, 9 tents burned down and a 70 year old individual died due to the accident. The residents of the tents had also suffered material damage.
With the purpose of creating job opportunities for IDPs, refugees and the local people in Zakho, several courses for improving skills came to an end on the 27th of June, 2018. About 155 young adults participated in the courses that took about a year. Among those responsible for making these courses possible were, ACF and BRHA.
On the 1st of June several tents burnt down at Chamishko Camp due to a fire that was caused by a shortage. One male got injured due to what happened and was transferred to the hospital for treatment. Aside from the tents there was also a lot of other material damage.
