With the purpose of improving the living circumstances of the IDPs at Chamishko Camp and replacing the old tents with new ones, BRHA distributed 5,000 tents at Chamishko Camp in cooperation with the directorate of displacement and migration in Duhok. This happened on the 25th of May, 2017.

As a precautionary measure, the children (0-5 years old) at Chamishko Camp received vaccines on the 3rd of March, 2017. In cooperation with the directorate of health in Zakho, the management of the camp made this possible. With this, the second round of vaccinations has started for all camps in the province of Duhok.
In a cooperation between the management of Chamishko IDP camp and Malteser, clothing and shoes were distributed among the orphans at the camp on the 7th of February, 2017. It’s worth mentioning, that Chamishko camp is located in Zakho and more than 4,797 families are currently residing there.
In cooperation with the management of Chamishko camp, HARIKAR organized a workshop on car mechanics came to an end on the 1st of January, 2017. The workshop was attended by 15 participants and took 30 days. At the end of the workshop the participants received a certificate and a toolbox.
In cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement, the Iraqi Ministry of Petroleum and UNHCR, the Duhok governorate is still distributing Kerosene among the IDPs and refugees that reside in the province of Duhok. Each family is receiving about 200 liters of kerosene and the distribution is currently taking place at Chamishko camp (in the district of Zakho) and Bajid Kandala camp (in the district of Semel).
It’s worth mentioning, that Domiz 1 refugee camp and Domiz 2 refugee camp have already received their share. And so the process is continuing, in order for the IDPs and refugees to be safe from the cold winter.
As the process of interchanging the managers of the IDP and refugee camps is continuing, on the 5th of September, in the presence of Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs; the mayor of Zakho, Mr. Botan Muhsin; the representatives of several governmental agencies in the district of Zakho; the representatives of several local and foreign organizations and a number of residents of the camps, the managers of the camps of the district of Zakho were switched.
At first, Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, gave a speech wherein he congratulated and thanked the managers of the camps of the district of Zakho for their hard work and dedication in aiding and assisting the IDPs. He also thanked the governmental agencies and organizations that have supported the managers until now and that he hopes that they will continue their job this way at the camps they have been assigned to in the district of Zakho.
After that, the mayor of the district of Zakho gave a speech wherein he congratulated and thanked the managers of the camps in the district for their hard work and dedication. He also thanked BRHA for their hard work in managing the camps, their dedication and continuous support.
Mr. Mamon Yahya Muhyaddin has replaced Mr. Dler Ahmed Mohamed, to become the new manager of Chamishko camp. Mr. Dler Ahmed Mohamed has replaced Mr. Mahir Mshu Culi, to become the new manager of Bersivy 1 camp. Mr. Mahir Mshu Culi has replaced Mr. Mamon Yahya Muhyaddin, to become the new manager of Bersivy 2 camp.
