The organization GOAL organized a seminar for IDPs on how to run a small business (i.e. a barbershop, chicken farm, carpenter’s shop, etc.) or find a job in order for them to be able to run their own businesses (after taking courses). Several businesses were invited to join the conversation and be able to help out several participants (giving them a job). About 41 IDPs, refugees and local people participated in the seminar that took place on the 17th of July, 2018. The participants that want to open a business will receive financial support for 3 months from the aforementioned organization.
On the 15th of July, the distribution of kerosene started among the IDPs at the camps in the Duhok governorate. This was made possible by the Directorate of Migration and Displacement in Iraq, in cooperation with BRHA. Each family will be receiving 40 liters of kerosene. The IDPs at Dawidiya Camp and Bersivy 1 and 2 Camp have receive their share of kerosene and this will continue until all IDPs have received their share.
This happened at the office of BRHA on the 8th of July, 2018. They received the certificates from Mr. Ismail Mohamed Ahmed, the governor’s assistant in IDP and refugee affairs, and Mr. Idrees Nabi Saalih, the executive director of BRHA.
A workshop on preventing senseless violence against women was given at the IDP and refugee camps to the staff of the camps on the 24th and 25th of June, 2018. The workshop was made possible by HARIKAR, UNFPA and BRHA.
On the 28th of June, several courses for improving the skills of IDPs came to an end. The courses consisted of topics on: sports, languages, media, coexistence and some other topics. Children up to the age of 18 participated in the courses, which were given at Shekhan Camp, Esyan Camp, Mamrashan Camp and Dawidiya Camp.
With the purpose of creating job opportunities for IDPs, refugees and the local people in Zakho, several courses for improving skills came to an end on the 27th of June, 2018. About 155 young adults participated in the courses that took about a year. Among those responsible for making these courses possible were, ACF and BRHA.
The governor’s assistant and the directorate of migration and displacement had a meeting on providing the IDPs and refugees with the summer necessities. This happened on the 26th of June, 2018.
